SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. – Ten teams competed in a So. Calif. Independant Fastpitch League (SCIFL) Alliance tournament, Mar. 19-20, at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs under ideal playing conditions with the weather a balmy low-70s.

After Saturday’s pool play and Sunday’s single elimination playoff, J & B Painting emerged the champion by defeating Those Guys 8-3 in the title game. Rob Schweyer picked up the win, with Jesse Martinez taking the loss.

Those Guys scored a run in the fourth inning and two in the sixth, while J & B’s bats were hot, plating two runs in the first, two in the second, three in the fifth and one in the sixth. Eli Salazar swung the hottest bat, drilling two triples and a single, while Jesse Palacios tripled once with two singles, and Schweyer helped his cause with three singles.

Saturday’s pool play finished with undefeated Pala taking the No. 1 seed followed the A1 Rockies, J & B Painting, So Cal Heat, Beaumont Coyotes, So Cal Bandits, Las Vegas Aces, Those Guys, Budmen, and Maccabi USA.

Lamar Goss carried the pitching load, picking up both victories over Pala and the Coyotes, and pushing Those Guys into the title game against J & B.

Meanwhile, J & B Painting defeated the So Cal Bandits 7-1 and Maccabi USA, 11-1, with Rob Schweyer notching both wins and setting up the championship match with Those Guys.
