Sydney, AU --White Sox team for Down Under Series Announced

Coach Kevin Gettins has named a roster of 14 to compete at the Down Under Series, 8-12 February in Sydney next year.

The New Zealand White Sox will have a different look to the one that competed at the World Cup of Softball and the World Championships in North America last year with four new names set to make their debut for the silver fern.

Auckland short stops Aieesha Hooper and Nita Hickey will replace the unavailable Hailey Breakwell while catchers Aria Tawhai and Keri Simeon will suit-up behind the plate.

The Down Under Series which initiated in 2015 will see some of the best international and professional softball teams from around the world compete over five days of play. World powerhouse Japan will go into the series as red hot favourites while the hosts will try to get their game back on track after a disappointing 10th place finish at the World Champs in Surrey last year.

The New Zealand White to compete at the Down Under Series:
Kingsley Avery, Ancelle Van Mollendorf, Jennifer Feret-Brear, Nita Hickey, Pania Monk, Aieesha Hooper, Aria Tawha, Katrina Nukunuku, Stephanie Smith (Auckland), Keri Simeon, Charlotte Pointon (Hutt Valley), Melanie Gettins, Rita Hokianga (Hawkes Bay), Shannon Hearne (Western Australia).

Cheers, Glen
