Kitchener Hallman Twins 2006 Roster & Schedule

May 12, 2006

Kitchener, ON

Kitchener, Ontario

The City of Kitchener is already a buzz with anticipation of the 2006 ISC World Tournament and ISC II Tournament of Champions. In turn, the host team, the Kitchener Hallman Twins have spent a busy winter preparing for the upcoming season. Following a solid season in 2005 with a third place finish at the Worlds and a Bronze Medal at the Nationals, the 2006 Twins hope to improve on these results in front of a hometown crowd this August. Arguably, one of the best Twins teams ever assembled will take to the field for the 2006 season with high expectations. The following is a quick bio of the Twins roster and a tournament schedule for the coming season. The Twins will also play in the Eastern Canadian ISC Travel League. See the Travel League website for a full schedule of league games.

29 Todd Martin Pitcher
- Todd had a fantastic year in 2005 and was easily one of the best in the World last year. With 3 World Championships and 7 All World All Star awards to his credit, Marty hopes to lead the Twins to a World Championship on home soil in 2006.

45 Paul Koert Pitcher
- Koerty joins the Twins on a full time basis for 2006. Paul has become one of the premiere lefthanders in the game and will be a great compliment to the Twins staff. A two time All World All Star with undoubtedly his best years still ahead of him. PK will also attend the Team Canada 30 man camp in May with hopes of wearing the flag at the Pan Am Qualifier.

00 Don Scott Pitcher
- Scotty returns for his third full season with the Twins. This vertically challenged fireballer is undoubtedly the hardest throwing 5'7" man on the planet and rounds out a very formidable pitching staff for the 2006 Twins.

12 Chris Shewfelt Catcher
- Longtime catcher for Paul Koert makes his debut with the Twins in '06. Shewy sports two Senior Canadian Championships and an All World All Star award at the tender age of 27. Chris has become one of the top catchers in the country and will seriously challenge for a spot on Team Canada at the May Camp in Kitchener. The man's got a rocket.

7 Dave Bailey Catcher / DP
- the veteran on the squad will back up Shewfelt behind the dish and spend the majority of his playing time in the DP slot. Coming off a solid season in 2005 and looking to win the "Big One" in the twilight of his career.

22 Jody Eidt 3rd Base
- Eidters back home to play with the boys. What can you say about a two time ISC MVP, two time ISC Champion and four time All World All Star. One of the best players in the game today, his knowledge and experience of what it takes to win should prove to be a key factor in the Twins' success. A member of Team Canada, Jody takes the field under the direction of his uncle and Twins Field Manager Doug Eidt. Doug coached Jody in midget ball and will happily accredit Jody's rise to stardom to quality coaching at a young AGE.

27 Chris Jones Short Stop
- A member of the St.Thomas National Champions in 2005, CJ returns to the Twins fold for his second tour of duty. Jonesy remains one of the top short stops the game has ever seen and was a ten year staple of the Canadian National Team with 3 ISF appearances and 14 ISC Championship appearances to his credit. CJ will add another winning presence to the Twins line-up as the gap between 2nd and 3rd just got a whole lot smaller.

26 Evan Boyd 2nd / SS
- Evan returns for his second full season with the Twins. A solid season in 2005 brings high expectations with it this season. Boydy had taken a year off from Senior ball in 2004 but has shown that he is definitely one of the bright young lights in the game. A solid contact hitter with soft fielding hands, Evan should prove to be a big part of the Twins present and future successes.

24 Jason Daer 2nd Base
- Daersy is another member of the Twins 27 year old club that includes Koert, Shewfelt and Boyd. Defensively, this kid is a gem with soft quick hands and tremendous reflexes. For a little man he carries some major league pop to the plate and has the potential to be a star in the not too distant furture. Yet another bright spot in the Twins future.

39 Ron White 1st Base
- Whitey is back for his third full season with the Twins. A veteran performer with "Big Game" experience, Ron adds stability and solid 'D' at first base and is a dangerous presence in the middle of the Twins order. A member of Canada's last Pan Am Game Gold Medallist team, Whitey is looking to win the "Big One" on home turf before calling it a career.

88 Derek Shackleton 3rd / 1st
- Blood and guts, hardnosed, dangerous, are all pretty accurate descriptions of Shack. A solid defender and an offensive weapon, Derek is still battling back from the knee injury he suffered at the 2005 Canadians. After 8 months off of work, Shack has the green light to play but will require some time to continue his rehab. Expect to see Derek available for regular duty some time in June.

42 Grant Baechler IF / OF
- Baechs remains the man of many faces. A third year Twin that moved directly from a successful junior career to Major ball without missing a beat, the man is simply versatile. A strong stick that gets better with each at bat, the man can play defence anywhere on the field. In his first two seasons with the Twins, Baechs has managed to play every position on the diamond save for pitcher and catcher (he can catch as well). Without a doubt, Baechs is destined to be an elite level Senior fastball player for many years to come.

5 Bill Simmons OF
- Quiet, soft spoken and non-controversial would be the best way to describe Bill. A leader by example that would run through the wall to get the job done. Lightening fast lead off man with deceiving power, he's definitely the spark that starts the Twins engine. Si will be heading to his first Team Canada tryout next weekend and is faster, stronger, and more determined than ever to help push this team to the top. He has also promised to be nice to all of the umpires in 2006.

2 Dale Levy Center Field
- Reds back bigger and badder than ever. With his sights set on a World Championship and a berth on Team Canadas' roster, Dale has packed a few more pounds of muscle onto his already intimidating frame. With one of the top throwing arms in the game and speed to burn, defensively there are few that compare. At the plate, the man crushes everything. If Red gets hot, look out for the Twins. Mark Smith, you gotta take this guy.

31 Greg Miller OF / DP
- Milly's back in the "Bigs" after a year off for the birth of his daughter. His career has taken him through Napanee, Toronto Gators, Owen Sound, Heflin, Can Am Windmillers, New York Spirit, The Farm and now to Kitchener. He brings with him 3 Canadian Championships and the All Star awards to go with them. An experienced veteran that can roll out of bed and hit a double off the wall, Greg will add yet another threat to a deep Twins batting line-up.

13 Ted Kosciesza OF / 1st / DP
- TK returns to the Twins for his second tour after spending the last few seasons with the Innerkip Eagles. An elite level stick that can play infield and outfield, Teddy is a balance of contact and power making him a tough out every at bat. A solid veteran with experience and the knowledge of what it takes to win at this level, Teddy will add another promising twist to the Twins line-up.

77 Chad Crawford Utility
- Crawfy moves directly from the Scarborough Junior Canadian Champions into a Twins uniform. With a handful of Canadian Championship rings to his credit from his Midget and Junior career, Chad will make the jump to Major Mens ball and serve as a valuable role player in 2006

10 Doug Eidt Field Manager
- The General is back for his 3rd season as the Twins skipper. Looking for a World Championship to share with his nephew Jody.

1 Steve Kreuter Coach
- Bonesy is also back for his 3rd full season with the Twins. The feel good mediator between Melon and the boys when things get tough.

Brian Baillie Assistant Manager
- Brian will help the team out with marketing of merchandise among other things as he continues his duties with the Monkton World Fastball Invitational.
