3RD ANNUAL ALL-STAR CLASSIC EXTRAVAGANZA
This year the third annual all-star extravaganza goes to the North Shore and more specifically in Elliot Lake . There has been a change to the formula for 2008 .The game schedule for Saturday September the 13th will have a starting time of 5 PM .The skills competition : fastest pitcher , fastest runner , most accurate thrower and the home run king will start at 3 PM two hours prior to the game itself. We are asking all teams from both leagues to send me a list of four players from your team in the Rick McDonald league (6 teams)- Whitefish has already sent their names and 3 players from the North Shore teams (9 teams) for no later than Monday September the 8th .Once again it should be a great game for the fans if we remember both the first two who ended in one run victories for the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League. Come 2009 we will get the Manitoulin Men's Fastball League involved and then each league could get their chance to host it each year. As mentioned earlier we are looking to have a three league four team championship weekend sometime next September-the fourth team being the host .Also in the mix we could be looking at an interlocking schedule in 2009(all three leagues involved) where the games would count in the league standings . If North Bay Senior Men's League show interest well then another scenario could be formed. Long live fastball!!!

SPANISH SMOKERS TAKE SERIES STRANGLEHOLD
On the North Shore , the rival league to the Rick McDonald Memorial League , the Spanish Smokers behind the excellent pitching of Cory Stolar have taken a stranglehold in the best of five championship final and for the first time in a few years it will not be the Sagamok River Dawgs who are champions but a new winner for 2008.The Smokers won the first game of the series 4-1 and than dumped the Elliot Lake Panthers 10-2 . Leading the series 2-0 , they could finish the Panthers on their home turf next Wednesday September the 3rd in Spanish .. We will keep you informed and have the result of that game next Thursday September the 4th.
Good luck to both the Athletics and the Dog House Relics from the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League who are off the 14th annual North Bay Worlds Senior Fastball Championships starting tonight on four fronts.
Another reminder to both leagues Rick McDonald;ld and the North Shore that all teams are to email Roger their team selected all-stars on or before Monday September the 8th.
