The Owen Sound Brick Brothers Junior Selects were competing at the 2009 Ontario Elminations in Mitchell on the weekend.
The action started on Friday with a 7-1 win over Selkirk. On Saturday the Selects started their day with a 17-4 win over Oshawa, then followed it up with a 8-2 win over Fingal. In the undefeated game the Selects came up short agianst Waterloo losing the game 3-1. A 5-1 win agianst Fingal agian on Sunday matched the Selects up with Waterloo where they would have to beat them twice to win the tournament. Owen Sound won the first game 5-4 with a walk off double by Darrin Newson in the bottom 7th, they then won the second game 8-1 in a 6 inning mercy to clinch the championship.
Joining the Selects in the Canadian Championships in Owen Sound in August are: Waterloo, Fingal and Napanee.
