KFL Playoffs
The 2009 playoffs began Tuesday night, so this report is a little behind but hopefully still enjoyable.
2009 KFL playoffs
This year, the KFL went to a two-division format due to our increase to 14 teams. This means the top four from each division would move forward into the playoffs, while the remaining three from each would play on the B side.
The first round of the playoffs will have teams crossover divisions to face their first opponent.
Red division #1 - Selects
vs.
Black division #4 - Black Sox
These two teams have some history as it was only five years ago that the Selects and Black Sox met in the B side finals. The Black Sox came back to win that series after dropping the first two games, and hope that they can repeat the result in this series. In addition, the Black Sox have a recent history of taking out the number one seed, a feat they managed in last years playoffs.
Result of this years regular season game: 2-0 win for Selects
Red division #2 - Reds
vs
Black division #3 - Bell Cartage
The Reds finish the season only one point out of first place overall and look to avenge an early exit from last years playoffs. Bell finished the season undefeated in their last eight games and plan to continue that streak into the second season.
Result of this years regular season game: 5-0 win for the Reds
Black division #1 - Smoke
vs
Red division #4 - Diamond Jaxx
The Smoke and the Diamond Jaxx appeared to be headed in opposite directions at the end of the year with the Smoke winning their last three and the Jaxx losing their last two. But, the playoffs begin from scratch and the Jaxx are looking to win their first KFL playoff series ever, while the Smoke are looking to do something they haven't done in three years, get out of the first round.
Result of this years regular season game: 3-1 win for the Smoke
Black division #2 - Kings
vs.
Red division #3 - Classics
The Classics, last years KFL champions, are set to defend their title, opening the playoffs this year against the Kings, which is exactly how they opened last years playoffs. The Kings however, would like to changed the result of last years opening series, which they lost two games to zero.
Result of this years regular season game: 6-1 win for the Kings
I hope everyone gets out to watch a few games. See you at the diamond.
