Canada Elite upset Michigan 8 - 3
(Ottawa, ON) - Softball Canada's Elite Team bounced back from a loss in game two to down the Michigan Ice at Currie Stadium in Midland, Michigan by a score of eight to three.
Canada Elite took to a four run lead in the third inning and pressed to increase their lead by seven in the fourth. Jennifer Yee (North Delta, BC) continued to showcase her offensive talents going two for four at the plate with a home run, a single and four RBi's.
Michigan tried to rally in the sixth on a Nikki Conway (University of St. Thomas) two run in-the-park home run. Michigan's final run came off of a Becky Manson (Central Michigan University) triple. Michigan's run came to an end as Ashley Lanz (Winnipeg, MB) came in to relieve Sarah Belanger (Winnipeg, MB) striking out the final two batters and picking up the save.
Belanger picked up the win for Canada allowing three runs on five hits with five strike outs in just over five innings of work.
Canada Elite look to close out the U.S mini tour at Currie Stadium in Midland, Michigan on Sunday June 25th with a win and a three to one series win.
