Aussie Men to face Argentina and New Zealand in Fastpitch Test series
Argentina and the New Zealand Black Sox have confirmed their participation in the 2010 International Fastpitch Softball Test Series. The series will be played at Hawker International Softball Centre, Canberra from 8 – 10 December, 2010.
The two teams will play the top 30 Australian Men’s players who are to be split into two (2) teams represented by Australia Gold and Australia Green.
The series will be the first time the Black Sox have faced the Australian Men since the final of the 2009 ISF XII World Championships where the Aussie Steelers defeated the Black Sox to become the world’s best.
The series will feature nine members from the 2009 ISF World Championship Gold Medal winning Aussie Steelers . The pitching combination of Adam Folkard , Andrew Kirkpatrick & Adam Humble all return along with offensive weapons Nick Shailes and Michael Tanner.
The 30 man squad features the young guns of Australian Men’s Softball with Cameron Bint, Tyson Duncan and Drew Faulkner selected in their first Australian Open Men’s squad. Their selection marks their successful transition from the World Champion Aussie Colts team of which all three represented at the 2008 ISF VIII Junior Men’s World Championships.
The series is a vital opportunity for the players to stake a claim in the final Aussie Steelers squad for the 2013 ISF XIII World Championships with this test series part of the official selection trials.
Argentina finished seventh at last year’s World Championships and will be using this tour against the two highest world ranked Men’s teams as valuable preparation for the next World Championships due to be held in New Zealand.
