Monterrey Diamante win the Castro Concrete Memorial Weekend Tournament in Austin Texas
Diamante from Monterrey Mexico sweep through the competition at this years Tournament with solid pitching from Tournament Most Valuable Pitcher and Player Eduardo " Lalo " Escobedo and dominant hitting from Tournament's Outstanding hitter Guillermo Rios.
Escobedo threw 3 shut-outs in 3 of his 4 victories Including two unbelievable one hitters against the state of Texas hottest team The San Antonio Titans . Diamante's bats were lead by the hot hitting of Guillermo Rios ( .778 batting average ) Along with Mario Valerio ( .667 )Tavo Prishker ( .600 ) and Fernando Rios ( .600 )
We really enjoyed having the Diamante team and want to thank them for making the long trip from Monterrey . I personally want to thank Diamante manager Juan Calvillo for attending the event and not to mention Thank you for the bottle of Tequila.
Our Tournament was a joyful and eventful weekend mostly due to our sponsor Honoring members from the 1961 Jokers along with having 78 year old Texas Fastpitch Living Legend and the first Joker pitcher Louis Murillo. In Typical Louie fashion he tells Titans catcher David Rocha " 1 is a fastball 2 is a curve and 3 is the change up". We all laughed . Murillo then took a shot at the modern day pitcher by mimicking a crow hop and then going into his regular motion he throws a perfect strike to Rocha. Priceless.
