The MinnDak Millers claimed the championship of the Eugene Holm Classic in
The Millers went 4-1 on the weekend, defeating Circle Tap in the championship game of the double-elimination format event.
Saturday
MinnDak opened the weekend with a 6-1 win over local team Imaging Solutions.
John Tschida and Jason Wandler had RBI singles in the first to put MinnDak up early.
Tony Kunka homered in the third and fifth innings for MinnDak.
Sisko Sabate went the distance for MinnDak.

The Millers once again jumped out to an early lead on John Tschida’s sacrifice fly and when Tony Kunka scored on a H & S error.
The fourth inning saw MinnDak start off the inning with three consecutive singles. They would score on an error, a wild pitch and a Tony Kunka ground out.
Greg Cascaes had a two-RBI single and Tony Kunka a two-RBI double in the fifth to give MinnDak enough runs for the mercy rule.

Saturday evening, MinnDak squared off against Circle Tap, with the winner receiving a spot in Sunday’s championship game.
MinnDak held on for 14-9 win over Circle Tap.
The Millers went up 4-0 in the first inning on John Tschida’s RBI single and Tony Kunka’s three-run homer.
Circle Tap scored three runs in their half of the first before MinnDak scored four in the second to push their lead to 8-4.
With two outs, Gregg Cascaes reached on a fielder’s choice. John Tschida and Tony Kunka had back-to-back RBI singles and Roman Foore had a two-run double.
The middle innings saw the teams battle back and forth. Circle Tap scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to close the gap to 10-9.
In the seventh, Dan Brekke led of with a double. Bob Fleming entered as a pinch runner and would later score on a wild pitch.
With two outs, Gregg Cascaes walked and John Tschida singled, giving way to Tony Kunka’s home run, making the score 14-9.

Circle Tap would need to beat MinnDak twice to claim the Holm Classic title. MinnDak fell to Circle Tap 5-3 to force the “If Necessary” game.
The Millers went up 2-0 when, in the second inning and with two outs, Zach Goring singled, then advanced to third on Jason Wandler’s single.
Goring scored on a wild pitch and Wandler advance to third. Bob Fleming then walked.
Wandler scored as Fleming stole second base and attempted to get in a run down.
Circle Tap tied the game on Kyle Magnusson’s homer in the third.
MinnDak reclaimed the lead on Jason Wandler’s solo homer the following inning;
The seventh inning saw Circle Tap tie the game on Jess Ellestad’s single then take the lead on Chris Delarwelle’ home run.
The Millers were unable to come up with any runs in the bottom of the seventh, forcing another Championship game.

MinnDak would claim the Holm Classic Championship with a 7-2 victory.
MinnDak jumped out to 3-0 lead in the first inning. Lucas Goring and Gregg Cascaes led off the game with back-to-back singles and John Tschida reached on an error.
Goring would score on a wild pitch with Roman Foore driving in Cascaes and Tschida with a single.
Circle Tap scored one in their half of the first but MinnDak scored another three in the second.
Lucas Goring and Greg Cascaes again led off with back-to-back singles. Goring would later score on a error, Cascaes on a RBI single by Jason Wandler and Tony Kunka, who walked, scoring on an error as well.
Lucas Goring’s RBI double in the fifth gave MinnDak a 7-2 lead.
