JRW & Associates 1st at Rose Cup Tournament Â

Portland, OR - JRW & Associates of Yakima, WA defeated K-Club of Bremerton, WA 9-0 in the championship game of the Rose Cup Tournament in Portland, Oregon on Sunday June 16.

In pool play Saturday, JRW beat Ivory Headwear of Portland 11-1. K-Club of Bremerton, WA 11-3, and Interbay Door of Seattle 9-0.

For the tournament, the JRW team scored 46 runs, while allowing only six runs. JRW had 15 home runs for the tourney.

Most Valuable Pitcher Joey Robbins gave up 5 hits, all singles, and struck out six in the championship game shutout. In the first inning, CF Tim Fischer hit a solo HR and All-Star Second Baseman Brett Richards capped off a 7 run first inning with a Grand Slam.

In the preceding semi-finals, starting pitcher Sam Aldridge was pitching to the second batter in the first inning when he had a major calf pull on his landing foot and was done for the day. Joey Robbins entered the game, allowing 6 hits, but struck out 13 CR Brewers in JRW’s 6-2 victory.

For the tournament Robbins was 4-0 in 20 2/3 innings, no earned runs for a 0.00 ERA with 39 K’s. Joey’s weekend included a no-hitter in JRW’s first game 11-1 victory over Ivory Headwear and a one-hitter in the victory over Interbay Door.

Most Valuable Player and Third Baseman Sean McCauley
was 2-3 with 2 runs scored in the Championship game. For the tourney, McCauley batted .529, had 9 RBI’s and hit 5 home runs.

All-Star 1B Mike Koentopp, in a position switch from SS due to a very sore or injured arm, is best characterized by his Face Book post when he said “All day Saturday, only made two outs and never struck outâ€. Mike homered twice that day also.

The victim of JRW’s 6-2 Semi-Final win was pitcher Lamar Goss, the Most Valuable Pitcher in the 2012 Class “A†World Series in Topeka, Kansas.
