Sooke Loggers upend California A's to claim Classic title

The Sooke Loggers, one of the best teams in men's fastpitch and one of the most exciting to watch, took the Fourth Annual California Classic on Sunday.
Jim and Maddy Flanagan withstood Mother Nature's oppressive heat and covered the tournament Saturday and Sunday, while this weakling only emerged from his air conditioned lair to report on the tourney on Sunday.
Sooke is one of those teams with mostly home-grown players that has the talent to challenge some of the "big guns" at the top of the elite level of the sport.
I'm wagering that at the ISC World Tournament, the Loggers will be a "fans' favorite." Not cinderella - they're too good for that label - but a joy to watch because they play the sport the right way and with passion and ferocity.
