The Simcoe Rural Fastball League finals between the Wyevale Tribe and the Vasey Countrymen get underway Monday evening with Game 1 scheduled for 8:00 in Wyevale. Game 2 will be played Thursday September 11th in Vasey. The start time will also be 8:00.   Information can be found on the 2014 Simcoe Rural Fastball League website.

The Wyevale Tribe have reached the finals after a hard fought series win over the Uhthoff Nationals. The series went the maximum 5 games with the Tribe edging the Nationals 6-2. Jason Giffen picked up the win in the finale for the Wyevale.

The Vasey Countrymen jumped out to a 2 game lead in their semi final series with the Minesing Mallards, with a 10 inning win in Game 2 when Brad Robinson delivered a 2-run home run in the 10th.  Minesing responded by taking the next two games of the series, including an extra inning win in Game 4 when John McNabb had a walk-off 8th inning solo homerun. In the fifth and deciding game, Minesing jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on a 3-run home run off the bat of John McNabb.  The Mallards would add a single tally in the third frame for a 4-0 lead.   The Countrymen responded in the top of the 4th inning with 5 runs for a 5-4 lead.  Shawn Heitzner started the scoring with a solo blast. Steve Eakley had a two out single to cash two runs and Brad Robinson followed with a towering 2-run blast to round out the scoring. Minesing reliever Graham McNabb and Vasey starter Brad Robinson would shut the door the rest of the way for 5-4 Countrymen series win.
