Team Canada Give Back To The Youth Of Saskatoon
Tonight at Glenn Reeves Field in Saskatoon three of members of Canada's
entry at the 2015 WBSC Men's World Softball Championship are taking time
away from their preparation to help build young softball players. They are
offering a skills camp to 119 players in the U10, U12 and U14 age
categories. Instructors Mike Branchaud (Team manager) along with long time
national teamers Jeff Ellsworth and Stephen Mullaley will lead the young
players through skills development in: hitting, throwing/receiving and base
running. They will also share their wealth of softball knowledge with the up
and coming stars of the future in a discussion on game situations.
Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association President and World Championship Host
Committee Chair Person Bryan Kosteroski said "We are excited to see how both
parties welcomed such a great opportunity to develop young softball players
in our city. The players and coaches are not only are excited about sharing
their knowledge of the game but hope to inspire young boys and girls to work
towards making it to the ultimate level in this sport in Canada, that is,
to make a national team"
Instruction begins at 6:30 and is wrapped up with hot dogs and drinks at Bob
Van Impe Stadium at 8:30. Organizers are excited to see the response for the
community as nearly 120 players will come out at one of the busiest times of
the year for them.
